Freehold is the title Bali buyers ask for by name, and it's also the one most often explained badly at viewings. Here's the part that matters before you look at a single listing.
Freehold, Hak Milik, is full indefinite ownership that passes to your heirs, and it's reserved for Indonesian citizens. As a foreigner you cannot hold Hak Milik directly, and as our own buying guide puts it, no structure changes that. What the label tells you is what the underlying title is, which affects value, resale and what can be done with the land. How you'd actually hold it is a separate conversation, and it's one we have in writing rather than at a viewing.

Why the title still matters to a foreign buyer
A freehold parcel doesn't run down. There's no expiry date doing quiet damage to the resale price each year, and no extension conversation waiting at the end. That's why freehold stock prices differently from leasehold stock on the same street.

Tenure comes from the property record, and it's shown on the card and the listing page. Where a listing is freehold, that's what the underlying title is recorded as.
If a listing's title, zone or permit trail has something you should know about, we say it on the listing. Ask us for anything that isn't shown.
